Introducing backup for Azure file shares

Since December last year, Carbon have been privileged to be part of the Microsoft Azure Files Backup technical preview designed to help Microsoft test and improve this service. As a result of ours and many others efforts, Microsoft have announced that this is now in full Public Preview – available for clients who have an Azure subscription to add this feature to test themselves.

We have already helped a number of clients decommission file servers and migrate to Azure Files and we have been using the Azure Files Backup service to then effectively make an additional copy in either the same region or geographically diverse for backup purposes. As there is no Virtual Machine or file server, this is an incredibly cost effective way to deliver File services to Users.

If you are interested in this (or any other Azure) service then please get in touch as we have a wealth of experience in this area and can give you good advice and tips & tricks that will help you on your way.

Full information on the Microsoft preview can be found here.
