Client Background

Weald Community Primary School is a forward-thinking school in the Sevenoaks area of Kent. They strive to develop well-rounded children who have been given a range of experiences during their time with the school. To further this aim, the School is always looking to utilise technology to aid the delivery of their curriculum.

Weald School sees beyond purely academic achievement and sets out to deliver an educational experience that grows every aspect of the pupils character, producing inquisitive students with a holistic view of the world.

We were frustrated at the service we were receiving from our existing supplier, things seemed to be very reactive rather than proactive and I felt that the IT systems we had in place were holding the school back in its ambitions. When I first met with Carbon Cloud the immediate impression was very different. They took the time to listen to my concerns and to understand where improvements needed to be made.

Project Detail

Weald School explained their frustrations with their current infrastructure and support service and this led to Carbon Cloud completing a technical workshop activity with key stakeholders at the school. This level of engagement allowed Carbon Cloud to fully understand the requirements of the school and to develop a strategic IT roadmap that moved the school forwards and made technology an enabler in its curriculum delivery.

Carbon Cloud designed a technology solution for Weald School that delivered a transformation to the systems utilised by the school, provided a responsive, flexible IT support service and ensured that pupils and teachers were able to access best of breed systems reliably and without complexity.

Weald needed to ensure that the IT systems in place supported their mission to be an outstanding school. We were able to work with key staff at the school through attending staff meetings and conducting workshops to understand the key requirements and then designed a roadmap that worked for all parties. We’ve been able to deliver improvements to pupil access to technology, make things simpler for teachers, and help deliver a modern MIS solution.

Carbon Cloud delivered a new support service for Weald school that consisted of access to our highly experienced service desk with the additional support of an engineer attending site once a week to resolve any more complex issues.

Our technical team then spent the time to redesign the active directory structure in place to better suit the needs of the school and deployed these changes during a school holiday in order to have no impact on users. This eventually led to a migration to Microsoft Office 365 to allow the school to take advantage of the flexibility and efficiency of the cloud productivity suite.

Weald’s backup strategy was improved, with all backups and retention data moved to Microsoft’s Azure platform and a robust DR plan was put in place.

During the first school closure relating to the COVID19 pandemic, Carbon Cloud were quickly able to deploy Teams for Education to allow Weald to provide a means of setting, assessing and collaborating on work with their pupils. This platform was also used to deliver live and recorded sessions with teachers.

Carbon Cloud have also undertaken a complete rebuild of the school’s website, have helped to deliver a interactive teaching tool for Character Education and have delivered a migration from Captia SIMS to Arbor’s MIS platform.

 

To date, we have been hugely impressed by their level of service including input into teaching and the IT curriculum.  They consistently go above and beyond to resolve any IT issues as well as being proactive in enhancing and improving our systems and procedures.
